Shamitabh takes an average start
2015 hasn't really kicked off on a big note, as far as box-office numbers are concerned. While a few have been complete duds, others have just about recovered costs.
Today's big release is R. Balki's Shamitabh staring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, South superstar Dhanush and newbie Akshara.
The film is one of a kind and caters to a niche audience - the multiplex moviegoers.
On one hand Shamitabh has opened to an average occupancy but on the other, the film is being raved by the critics. Which clearly means that a strong word of mouth will work wonders for it over the coming weekend. According to the first day occupancy reports, the film might collected Rs. 3 to 5 crores today.
