Alone and I battle it out
Amidst small films and Hollywood flicks, today’s big release is the Bipasha Basu-Karan Singh Grover starrer Alone. The film has been allotted 1000-1200 screens. The film is helmed by Bhushan Patel and marks the debut of television hottie Karan Singh Grover. Well, this erotic horror is solely targeted for the single screen audience and the trailer looked promising on that front. Bipasha and Karan’s chemistry on and of screen has grabbed many eyeballs and also, the two have left no stones in promoting the film across India. The music doesn’t fall into chart-buster category but hasn’t gone completely unnoticed. Box-office wise the film has taken an average start with an occupancy of around 30 to 40 per cent. It might bank around Rs. 2 to 3 crore today. But the film is expected to gain momentum over the weekend. ‘I’, the Tamil revenge drama directed by Shankar has been dubbed in Hindi and was even promoted on Bigg Boss 8. In Mumbai, the film has opened to below par occupancies despite the hype. Today’s other small releases include Crazy Cukkad Family and Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene. There was hardly any buzz about these two and they weren’t even promoted and have opened to poor occupancies. Well, the weekend is going to be a real litmus test for these films, big or small. Alone and ‘I’ are sure to give each other tough competition.
